Connect firm-owned storage safely

Use SharePoint, OneDrive or DMS references as the document boundary while Mike AI tracks source references and decisions.

Steps

  1. 1

Open Microsoft 365 folder setup and choose the firm tenant, site, library and first approved folder rather than an entire tenant.

  2. 2

Choose either Sites.Selected for one SharePoint site or Files.SelectedOperations.Selected for one folder. Both start with no access until a Microsoft administrator creates the selected-resource grant.

  3. 3

Choose read for metadata readback, or choose write only when approved output save-back is needed. Save-back cannot be enabled with read access.

  4. 4

Use the tenant-specific admin-consent link and the no-secret permission-grant pack. Record the Microsoft permission ID when it is returned.

  5. 5

Run Verify. Mike AI becomes ready only when Microsoft successfully reads the selected folder; retry after a failed readback rather than treating entered IDs as proof.

  6. 6

Record the folder owner, naming convention and revocation contact.

  7. 7

Map source references by matter, source type, version or checksum where available.

  8. 8

Use manual source references, the Microsoft folder readback form, or the DMS reference importer to import metadata and locators without copying document bodies.

  9. 9

When an approved folder represents a new matter, choose Create a matter from this folder, select the practice pack and reviewer route, then open the returned matter link.

  10. 10

For iManage or NetDocuments, export matter/document metadata only: source name, workspace reference, document reference, version, cabinet/library, checksum where available and linked blocker.

  11. 11

Check the new matter queue for imported source references, evidence items, blockers and output locks before asking Mike AI for matter-specific help.

  12. 12

Prove revocation by deleting the selected-resource grant, checking that Verify fails, then regranting and checking again.

Checks

The source map points to firm-owned storage.

A storage-created matter appears in the workspace dashboard and role queues after refresh.

No raw client document text is pasted into support, feedback or public demo routes.

Revocation and audit ownership are clear.

The recorded application permission is Sites.Selected or Files.SelectedOperations.Selected, never a tenant-wide file or site read permission.
